About Undercurrents

Undercurrents is a student news publication documenting and amplifying labor, Palestine liberation, abolitionist and other anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist organizing at and around the Claremont Colleges.

2023-24 coverage focused on organizing in solidarity with Palestine, including Pomona Divest from Apartheid’s divestment campaign and Students for Justice in Palestine’s Suspend Haifa campaign, as well as labor organizing by Pomona and Pitzer student and full-time dining workers.

2022-23 coverage focused on labor organizing by Pomona, Pitzer, University of La Verne and Whittier College dining and custodial workers, as well as the launch of Students for Justice in Palestine’s Suspend Haifa campaign.

Undercurrents abides by the American Press Institute’s standard that journalism’s “essence is a discipline of verification.” We will always report accurately and fairly and be transparent about our sourcing. We aim to be the publication of record when it comes to grassroots power-building efforts in Claremont.
